Sundown SA-12 WALL SOCKET

Posted by CharlesC on Aug-27-2009

So… you want to know how much the SA-12 will take thermally ? Video starts at 14.5 amps (1740 watts) power drops off to the 1200 – 1400 watt range after the first 10 seconds and continues to play for a total of about 35 seconds at this power level.

Never going below DOUBLE rated power for the entire time on straight sine wave wall socket power @ 60 Hz. The woofer is NOT broken but I decided to stop as the current continued to drop indicating the coil was getting too hot. I plan to use this one in my Jeep so I didn’t want it to go until it quit. This is a Dual-2 woofer in series for 4 ohms nominal.

Hi i accidentally connected the 110v adapter of my speakers into a 230v power supply without using the converter. They worked fine for sometime but now my speakers won’t work. Is there any way to repair them? Which one is broken, the adapter or the speaker?

Probably the adapter, 110V units do not like 230V being blasted through them – voltage won’t really have an effect on the speakers themselves

+Turn the computer off, take the battery out, plug the AC Adapter into the laptop and try to turn it on. If it does not come on then it is either the adapter or the board. Here at work, we have several adapters to test which component has gone bad, but in your case you’ll have to improvise. Buy a new adapter and keep the original packaging. Plug it into the laptop, again with the battery out. If you get the same result, it is the board. Return the AC adapter to the store you purchased it from.
