The Plug Socket

I have a porch light that won't turn on. But, there is power to the socket as tested with an Ohm meter. When I connect a bulb to the outlet, the power drops and the light won't turn on. Removing the bulb restores the voltage level. The light works in other outlets. What might be happening here?

You might have the voltage there but if you don't have enough amps it won't light the bulb. Kind of like a dead car battery that reads 12 volts but won't start the car. You have a bad wire or connection somewhere. Your best bet would be to leave the bulb in and start moving around wires or lightly tapping on the wall that the wires are behind. Good luck.
